. Ok, in March I will have been in LA for a year...I can't even believe it! I came to this city because I was sick in SF and incredibly depressed. LA has turned out to be my new start I thought SF would be...
. It started off rocky. Conan and I moved in with a friend to help her from losing her giant industrial loft turned photography studio that we had helped here build six months previous. It didn't work out with her and we ended up moving again. Very long story short.
. We moved into a gorgeous artists loft downtown LA. It has hardwood floors, brick walls, laundry, pool, hot tub, gated parking...my dream loft. And our last place didn't even have a kitchen! It had been like camping in a cement cave before and now I still am in awe of how gorgeous my home is.
. I really love the city itself. The people are a little rough around the edges but it has character. Often when I'm on my hour long 12 mile journey to work I'm overcome by the sky in LA. SF has no sky. In SF, I'd have to leave SF to remember I lived in SF. You'd probably have to live there for that to make sense.
. I've had plenty of adventures. People here like to go out. I think it's the sun. But I really don't mind. If it's warm I can get as naked as possible and go play...even at night. Hee! I've made a few new friends...but not a single one like my darling Ayame. My girlfriend and best friend next to Conan, of course. She's an artist as well, crazy sexy, and fucking brilliant. I'm absolutely convinced I'm with the two most amazing people on the planet...and my apologies to everyone else. Best of luck, though!
. Onto the artwork. Despite being in a beautiful, amazing, incredible place in my life I hadn't touched a pencil, pen, or paintbrush in almost a year. I'm still not sure what it was. Depression, uncertainty, losing faith. I was just not inspired to create...and I felt lost. It wasn't until a recent chain of events gave me a good shove back on track.
. At my work my clients like to hear about what's going on in my life. They want to know all about what I did that weekend, my modeling, my painting, my latest sex escapade. Fucking everything. One of my regulars birthday was coming up so I asked what he wanted for his birthday. He said, "I want a sketch...done only with your makeup supplies." We both laughed. But when his birthday finally came around. I sat down and did a sketch of myself with just eyeliner, shadow, and blush. He was dumbfounded. He took it to the owner of my club and showed him. He called me the next day and asked if we could have a business meeting. I was absolutely terrified! A call from the owner (not even my manager...the *owner*) could only be bad, right? When we met up he said he wanted to commission a painting from me for his house in Germany. Not only that, but he wanted to display my art in all three of his clubs.
. I started painting again that day.
. After a year hiatus from painting...I expected my skills to be rusty. All I can say is...I've never had so much confidence in myself as I do now. I'm looking forward to revamping my gallery on this website!
